Great things to do in Barcelona in January: Party with the locals at Sant Antoni festivities

As promised in our previous post, Barcelona like a local in winter, we worked out a selection of great things to do and see for the Festa Major de Sant Antoni in Barcelona. We are devoted to find the best of the Barcelona that exist on the day to day life, the one that overlooks big events, massive tourism and changes in weather. The Barcelona we live in!

Festa Major de Sant Antoni is a festival that starts on Friday 15th and last till Saturday 24th January and is the first celebration of the year in the City of Counts. It showcase catalan traditions, such as the 189th edition of Els Tres Tombs parade which is the main highlight of this celebration, and sardanes (Catalonia’s traditional folk dance), concerts, exhibitions, theater and a number of family activities, including an artisan beer fair and yummy events for the hungry crowd.

There are a lot of things to do, and here there is just a selection of those that are also easily accessible to visitors, natives from other districts, and that of course, in one way or another include tasty food and free lessons to learn rumba catalana!. *profits are donated to a local NGO from Sant Antoni neighborhood (De Vei a Vei)

21-January

  • 16:00 to 18:00 Xocolatada en companyia at Centre de Dia for Sant Antoni elders (this is a very special event)
  • 19:30 to 21:30 Tapas workshop at Escola Pia Sant Antoni ( Ronda de Sant Pau, 72).

  • 21:00 Festa Major Dinner. Tickets (20 €) are sold at Av del barri de Sant Antoni.

22-January

  • 20:00 to 1:30 Sant Antoni Fire and ¨torrada and music¨ at Viladomat/Manso crossroads. The activity is free and food stalls will allow you to taste delicious food and drinks.

How to get there: Metro Stop Sant Antoni, the rest can be done by foot so we all contribute to less carbon emissions 😉
