Sandwiches are one of the most eaten foods in the world, and in Spain while we don’t know exactly how many are eaten each day, it is very like that the answer is a lot, and on that regard we had to eat a lot to come out with our selection of the Barcelona best sandwiches to eat right now.

PULLED PORK with home-made onion rings and salad

Named one of the best brunch places in Barcelona by the foodie blogosphere, and we do agree! Their famous sandwich: pulled pork is just an experience on itself. The eclectic crowd is worth watching while drinking a pink lemonade.

JAMON SERRANO, QUESO BRIE, MANGO with rocket and balsamic reduction

An iconic bar, literally on the street, opened for more than 90 years and that since 2005 serves the best Barcelona sandwiches. The name refers to the old street name which was changed during dictatorship days. Historic memory for some!

BANH MI with pork (cooked for 8 hours) over bread with mayonnaise plus cucumber slices, daikon sauce, pickled carrots, fresh coriander and scallions with a dash of sriracha sauce.
In case you are visiting any of the markets organized in Barcelona all year long, make sure you find a spot in the longest cue, which is going to be very likely the one for Banh mi by Catando. I haven’t managed to get something close to such perfection. And it is one of the famous sandwiches in the world!

CHICKEN BACON AND AVOCADO with rocket, tomato and mayonnaise

This take away street-food joint has taken very seriously what they do. They first started delivering food employees of companies located @22 Barcelona Business District. I managed once to try their chicken sandwich and fall for it immediately. And now, they opened a shop for non-penguin human beings, so run for it!

Once someone told me that a classic cannot be reinvented, but at Tapas 24, one of the best Barcelona tapas bars, proved him wrong. Simplicity is all that it takes to bring the Barcelona´s favorite sandwich to a new level. Iberian ham, melted cheese and flecks of black truffle. Sensational!

SEITAN BURGER with tomato, cucumber, cheddar and a side of bio ketchup

I must reveal that it took me guts to order a vegan burger for the first time, one way or another I come from the land of meat and cowboys. Luckily I was at Teresa´s, and my old stereotypes changed the moment I tried this burger, now one of my favorites sandwiches in Barcelona.

SOBRASADA DE MALLORCA with Comté cheese and a touch of honey

Walking around Sant Antoni District is one of my favorites things to do in Barcelona, and I really enjoy the days when I do the food tour with fellow foodies. And on one of those walks I found this gourmet sandwich joint that recreates the best of the Spanish sandwiches with a glamorous touch. Worth the visit!

Note : In Spain there is a difference between sandwich and bocata, the first refers to sliced bread while the second to a piece of bread cut and filled with foods.
