Enjoy Barcelona like a local in winter

When imagining Barcelona you would be quite right in bringing to mind a picture of a sunny seaside, but winter still descends on the city of counts for about three months between December and early March. Good news is that winter in Barcelona is mild for the urban goers and you might get quite lucky with a surprising amount of sunshine if visiting just for a few days. We believe that cooler temperatures shouldn’t keep you away as there is still plenty of things to do in Barcelona and its surroundings, and here we drop few interesting ideas.

Barcelona enjoys a privileged weather and its quite probable that during your time here in winter it will be sunnier than most other destinations in Europe and that you will be able to sit at any outdoor terrace and sip some vermouth, cava or coffee, even at night. Just go to the Barceloneta, El Born, The Gothic QuarterSant Antoni or Gracia neighborhoods and see what locals do! And in case you need accommodation, just use a licensed apartment rental service.

Winter is also a synonym of fewer tourists and that means that you will be able to see and enjoy Barcelona in a laid-back atmosphere together with the natives. In most streets and squares of the city, you can immerse yourself on a diverse array popular culture activities for all ages such as the procession of Laies, the Santa Eulalia parade, human towers in the diada castellera, sardana dancing, and a fire run involving fire beasts and devils. Skiing at the Pyrenees mountains is a great option due to its proximity to Barcelona; there is five fabulous Catalan ski resorts less than 2 hours drive. Ski slopes in Catalonia are also well connected to lost medieval hillside villages which offer a varied range of accommodation and gastronomy. In most places, you will ski under a nice sunny day with a unique Mediterranean feeling. This is a great day trip idea from Barcelona.
